I have been using 98se for a while and was thinking of moving to 2000Pro, all I use the comp for is gaming and the ususal stuff, do you guys think its worth it.

Which OS do you think is better ie stable, security, etc.

Thanks

XP is great, I just wish I could play older dos based games on here ( I miss you crusader: No remorse)

For stability, it's no contest...W2K all the way. When W2K and XP started coming out, some benchmarks showed that performance was marginally better in Win98 in some games. However, this performance increase really doesn't exist with new games, and most new games are starting to drop support for W98.

There is NO WAY I'd ever go back to Win98 for any reason. You might have a problem getting older games (pre 1998) to run in a W2K/XP environment, but there are workarounds for many older games. For me, no game is worth going back to 98.

Have you tried DOSbox?

2k all the way, if you want dos, do what BlueWeasel said and use Moslo while you are at it.

Win2000 is much, much, better for work.

Win98SE is better for older games. Win2K just won't play a lot of Win95 era games (neither will XP, compatibility failed me for both The Longest Journey and Star Trek Armada).

DOSBox is a great idea but if you read the site there is a long list of limitations.

You can always dual-boot the two, use Win2K for work and the games that run on it, 98SE for old games.
