hey all,
ran into a weird problem.
set up windows xp on a new system

added my windows 2000 hd's to it,
and althouhgh they show up, none are accessable.
giving errors when you look at them, yet showing up as healhty.

bring them back to the win 2000 system and they work fine

formated using win 2000 ntfs

what is the problem

also put a 200 gigger on to the system as well, and shows up as a 31 gig.

anyone know whats going on?

About the Win2k drive issue:

They may show HEALTHY, but are they set to ACTIVE?

On the 200 gig drive:

Does the BIOS recognise the FULL CAPACITY of the drive?

How do you have the JUMPERS SET?

What did you use to Partition the drive?

sp1 is installed.

jumpers are set to slave as master is a 20 gig i formated (previously it was an nrfs from win 2000 reformated it works fine)

i thought about the bios, not sure, it's an asus p4c800-e deluxe mobo
it shows up as 200 gig in the bios settings

i used windows to partition it

they show up as healthy in xp, but 0 0 0 0 for everything else.
no other function.

also i got an external 250 gig i put together for 189
it's on cs setting, but i always have to reactivate it.
when my friends drive he just plugs it in and out with no problems.

should i set it to master for that one?

Goto disk management in windows and make sure the partitions are active.

The external drive should be master from what ive seen in the past.
