2000 won't boot after importing a foreign disk

I needed to transfer some huge files from my main computer to my living room Epia system. I have an external HD that works with Firewire and USB 1.1. I transferred the files from the main system to the HD. The main system has W2k and XP installed, but I used W2k in this case. When I hooked it up, I had to import the drive as a foreign disk, but that went fine.

I then shut down the main system and removed the HD since I don't know how to un-import the drive.

I hooked the HD to the front 1394 port of my Epia system, imported the disks as foreign, and copied the files to its HD. Everything was fine so far. Then, I shut down the Epia to remove the HD for the same reason stated above.

After I removed the HD, I restarted the Epia, but now it hangs on startup regardless of which startup option I use. I see the blue background of W2k. I also see (and can move) the mouse cursor. But, that's it. I also tried the repair option when booting off the w2k install cd.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

try it in safe mode - it might be missing the removable hd. You might have to unmount the drive

Thanks for the reply. I tried it in safe mode, but it still hung in the same place.

Just curious, how would I unmount the drive? Whenever I imported foreign disks in 2000 in the past on different, I never knew how to unmount it.
