if ya gotta have it now, you can find 9600XT's for less than $200, if you can wait, the 9800Pro's prices are coming down near $200

so, hows the 5900 XT vs. the 9700 Pro?

5900 XT is slower than a SE which is slower than a non ultra, highly unlikely that a XT will be able to hit utra leves if even non ultra levels

the se/xt is not much slower then a full 5900. while the ram is clocked slower, its much lower latency results in almost (but now quite) equal performance to the 5900nu. while i'd still go for the nu at the same price, you're not giving up alot if you have to go se/xt.

right now tho, with sapphire's 9800pro prices dropping and se/xt prices remaining, even tho the 9800p is still a bit more expensive, it's close to becoming the better value imo. i would not however be disappoined in having to "settle" for any of those cards tho. at current price/performance ratio, they are all great values.

id get a 9800 pro or a 5900nu...

but i cant find any games i want to play, so ill keep my 4200 til i do. it handles enemy territory fine and thats what im into right now
