My local Staples has Samsung 12X, 80 minute CD-R media 200 packs (2 sealed spindles of 100 in a box) for $50. When I went up to the register, it was still in the computer as $100, but I showed the cashier the sticker on the shelf and, typing in the # on the sticker, it was indeed 50. I don't know if this is local or not (I couldn't find it at the online store), but I'd recommend checking it out - 200 for 50 + tax and no pricematch/refund hassles.

Plus, use a 10 off 40 or 25 off 100 (if buying x2) B&M coupon to save even more. These are e-mailed to you and have to be printed out and taken with you at time of purchase, so I don't have a link for it, sorry:(
Question... would these work in a Samsung model 709 DVD player??

I was at my local Staples yesterday (Saterday, JAn 6) and these were 100. Probably a local deal, or my staples sucks as usual.

As to the question of quality, I've not burned a coaster yet, but I've only been able to try ten. I'm new to burning, so I don't know much in the way of comparison. The dye is a yellow / gold color and the discs have a label. I know that I heard that there's a program out there somewhere that identifies the origin of media - if someone can put down a link for it, I'll run it to check out this media.

I'll be putting up the receipt later today (@Home is making me wait while it sets up my web account).

I beieve this deserves a bump. It seems to be a very good deal.

200 for 50 dollars

400 for 100 dollars minus 25 coupon

75 for 400 80 minute cdrs !!!!

that comes out to 18 cents a cd

if anyone can provide a sku, that would be very helpful. I called staples.com and they werent able to track down the item without an item number. IonBlade sent me a copy of his receipt but it doent have a sku. If IonBlade gives me permission, i would post it up.

NP, you can go ahead and post it - I was going to earlier, but @Home's free space seems screwed up. I don't mind as long as whoever wants to get in on this can :)

I haven't tried the samsungs, but I am not a fan of the Kingston.
Can anyone post a cdr-id of the samsungs?

The Kingstons are cyanine type 1 I believe, very blue color.
I find these are not very robust.
After a couple of weeks in a warm car here in SoCal(not direct sunlight), the Kingstons skip like crazy.
The dye seems to darken with heat.

The most robust cheap CD's I have found are the p-cyanine type 9 CompUSA brand.
These have been in my car for over a year and are still fine.
