$200 for sound

i was thinking...x-530, audigy2 zs, sennhiesers hd 485..... but i was wondering if a soundcard would be worth the money for the x-530...if not i could spend more money on something else...(speakers or headphones...)

so wat do u think i should buy with $200

what's your current sound situation? are you using onboard sound? AC'97 or azalia? if you have azalia i'd stick with that (i sold my x-fi when i bought my new core 2 system), but with AC'97 you might check the forums for an x-fi for sale - used ones are going for $70 or so. as for the speakers, i'd go for something like the z-5300e instead of the x-530s. you get a ton more power with the z-5300e speakers. i have the z-5500s and they're really nice, but probably a bit out of your price range, unless of course you have azalia audio and devote your whole $200 to speakers instead of a sound card.

well this is a new build...also, i dont really need that much power..i kinda just want something thats crisp and good quality...the mobo has onboard realtek 883 audio..

I'd go with either speakers or headphones, if you want both, you'll have to sacrifice on both.

My recommendation is to get logitech z5300/z2300 and forget the headphones.

uhm ok well i guess im not gonna get a audigy2...i think ill just get better speakers. Do headphones in your guys' opinion help gaming/sounds...? if not i guess ill just stick with speakers...right now with my old computer i have just like a $20 flimsy headset w/mic...it suits me fine...
