$200 budget for SuperMid - FullTower ATX Case - wut would u get

It's not full tower, but if your're willing to go mid-tower outpost.com is selling the P150 for $110 with free ground shipping, plus there's a $50 rebate so it's $60 after rebate.

I searched for "full tower" on the site http://www.microcenter.com/search_resul...ch_id=120808422967d1fca0e433866b10f4b1

So I guess if you're married to the idea of a full tower, you're probably best off with the stacker. The Antec 900 (which doesn't show up as a full tower for some reason) doesn't come with dust filters and I think it's got a bunch of air holes all over the place, keeping it from being truly quiet.

While other shops have better prices, Newegg has a significantly larger amount of choices available http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductLi...e&Submit=ENE&N=0&Ntk=all&Go.x=0&Go.y=0

Solo meets all your criteria and it's only ~$80 - I'd stay far away from aluminum. Panels rattle and they have no mass for barrier loading making even motherboard whine seep though.

I was looking at the p180 from bestbuy for 80 but they apparently sold out. I need something like a full tower to support 6-8 (EIDE) hard disks along with some ODDz.

When u said stacker which one? The old version for $139 or the $224 830?

I was contemplating the Antec 900 and P180 but alas both sales are dead for $80 sigh. I'm always tinkering around with the device re-arrangement and the 900 just takes way too many screws to deal with it. I turned my $100 budget to a $200 cuz I am a lil interested in the 830 but neways, I'm really interested in everyone else's thoughts.
I appreciate Zebo and Shadowknight's help.

I guess these are my priorities.

Sturdiness
Easy Access
Airflow
Dust filters
Sound (Noise)
Looks

Recommendations with links would be AWESOME~

P.S. Super-Mid to Full Tower I guess hehe (I will change the heading)

Thank you in advance,

Hello AznVenom, my recommendation for you is the Stacker 810, which is the older style. The case has dust filters in the front and side, though not at the bottom.

Newegg has great pics: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16811119093

I have modded my case and put in a 120mm blowhole and fan for even better air cooling: http://www.themodnation-forums.com/viewtopic.php?t=148

The case is very sturdy (steel), a breeze to work in, has excellent airflow (dual 120mm exhaust fans, decent dust filtering, and looks great. With the stock fans, it is quiet, as the fans are fairly low rpm. I swapped mine for Yate Loons (~1400rpm) so it is not as quiet but cools awesome. For 120mm fans, I consider <800rpm to be nigh inaudible in a case and anything >1500rpm to have noticeable noise. I think the Yate Loons have one of the best cooling to noise ratios around. However such things are subjective and you should find fans you like.

What is the difference between the Stacker 810 and the Stacker STC-T01-UW1? The pix looks identical.

I noticed the STC-T01-UW1 has room for 2 PSUz while the older 810 uses that room for an extra 120mm fan hehe. I guess that's it.

The Stacker 810 is a server case made for big E-ATX motherboards. It also is not BTX compatable (but who cares about BTX anyway) and dual power supplies is pointless unless you absolutely must have your system running 24-7. I prefer the dual 120mm exhaust fans. The 810 also cannot be used with the cross-flow fan that is optional with the STC-T01-UW1. Otherwise, pretty much the same.

hey venom, i see you changed your mind on that MM case. 😀

B4 you decide on the stacker versions, you should keep in mind the difference in watercooling ready the two cases are.

People get the 810 because you can mount a rear 120x2 radiator easily. However the other allows a Performance-PCS.com bottom radiator mount with plently of clearance.

Also im assuming your going full tower after my setup. 😀

The pics i showed you were off a TT Armor. The wonderful thing about this case thats better then the stacker somewhat, is the rear hard drive cage. This lets your front be clear, and you can forward mount a radiator up front to grab fresh cool air.

Stay away from the gigabyte aurora. The layout of the case is nice, but if you see one up real close and in real life, i think it looks kinda cheap, and it doesnt look like it does in the picture. (well thats my personal opinion)

Few other notes, ummmm the stacker is built strong. I wouldnt mind letting my xGF sit on it. However, my ex-gf used my ARMOR as a stepstone to get something off the shelf. And yeah i was a bit shocked, but thats how strong the Armor is.

BTW my xgf is ~115lbs. Plan note, i think the armor is built stronger then the stacker, but both are excellent cases.

EDIT: OMG KANDOLF LCS is only 239.99 😱 TYTYTY for that link, ive been wanting one of these to replace my armor. Ummm, if u do decide the extra increase and get this case, The watercooling system is at best OK. Dont use parts not made by TT to addon, and dont change the fans on the radiator to fans of a much lower CMF.

OR: Gut the system like i am going to do, and drop in a custom. 😀

EDIT2: OP STay away from micro center. 6.6 raiting in reselleratings.com is a horrible raiting. The stacker is the same price and so is the armor at newegg. And newegg is always 9+ in raitings.

Hey Aigo, What MM case? Btw, I'm only gunna go on AirCooling, so there wont be any radiators. It's going to be a file server/back up thing for all my IDE drives.

I don't know which TT armor you are referring to. Can I get a model# or link so I can see it? I went to look at a bunch of cases last week and do not remember the TTz to have any dust filters.

Btw, MicroCenter (EastCoast Fry's) is 30mins away from my house and the costs seem to be close to NewEgg after all the taxes n SnH between them. I rather have 1 rite OTD and come back to them if there are any dentsbroken parts then return ship to NewEgg for the $10 difference since all their cases are 20% off. I never had a problem with MicroCenter at all but this is in reference for instore sales. I checked the resellerrating of them as you mentioned their 6.6 rating at it seems that it's all about their cost of SnH and time it takes to get it.

Please give me a heads up, thx bro.

ooops, i thought it was you though pm's i helped out on watercooling.

Anyhow, its a ThermalTake Armor. It was on the site you linked to.

Here

I highly recomend that case, and the stacker right after in the price range you specified. And i went though my fair share of large server cases, from lian li -> chieftec

Aigo, alot of ppl at newegg are complaining about the loud fan noise in the case and how it gets really hot when SLI'z are set up.

Will update more on this TT Armor.

Some of my favorites are the XCLIO A380 full tower. It has two 250mm fans which can move the same air as a 120mm fan, but at a 1/4 of the speed and move less sound. One fan in the front and one in the side. The huge fan in the front would be good for your 3.5" drives. I don't know about dust filters, you could easily put them on the outside of any intake fans. The fans on this case glow. $105 plus shipping.

Sunbeam Transformer IC-TR-BA Black Steel ATX Full Tower Computer Case is a nice case. Cool looking, plenty of room, and a top fan to blow da heat out the top of the case 🙂 $75. plus shipping.

As far as dust... I wouldn't worry about it unless you have a pet or have the computer in a garage in a neighborhood that has a lot of construction. I think it's better to have good airflow/cooling and spray air canisters every once in a while to clean out dust. Worrying about dust is more relevant in overclocking.

I like the original Stacker myself (STC-T01). It has room for 4 HDDs as delivered (or 3 HDD and 1 fdd) and you can get another cage for 4 more HDDs for $20. + shipping from jab-tech.com. I like it because it has room for 2 PSUs and you can get two reasonable sized PSUs (e.g. Enance ENP-5150GH) for a lot less than one huge one if you're gonna run lots of drives.

Fan noise, i agree, but i swaped out all my fans anyhow. I dont trust TT fans.

SLI overheating? ummmmm did i mention theres a upgrade to the armor for 34.99 that lets the side door be a 25CM fan at 19db. And yeah its actually quiet for TT's design. I dont see how your SLI would overheat with a 25CM fan right on the door.

The only downside most people have with the armor is the front door gaurds. But there removeable with a screw driver.

Its not worth its price and value, IMO.
The regular stacker is better then the 830 IMO.

Did u fail to mention to the host that this CASE is EXTREMELY LARGE. Its bigger then a MM and would completely fail at being a computer case unless someone wants to put it next to a big screen TV.

The thing up close and in RL, is hugh, its like 2 large towers meshed together, and then some. The thing is tall, and doesnt look very sound dampening. However i would like a real owners imput in this case, since i have not worked with it.

But from visual up front and close at frys, i wanted to laugh when i saw it. Its littlerally bigger then a TAI CHI.

CM went a bit too much toward glitz and glam w/ the 830 - the original Stacker is all business and that's what I expect from a Stacker.

Aluminum cases don't necessarily have rattle to them. My Gigabyte Aurora 570 has no rattles at all. Maybe cheap aluminum cases rattle but this one doesn't 😉

Its 14.2"W x 13"D x28.4"H. (5242 in^3) Basically 2 14x14x14 cubes stacked. Yeah, its wider and taller than the standard tower but its not really any larger than a Stacker 830 which checks in at 9.8"W x 21.1"D x 25.2"H (5211 in^3) and not that much larger than a Stacker 810 which is 9"W x 21"D x 23"H (4347 in^3).

I mean...really, is 'what' REALLY harder to type than 'wut'? Or 'you' than 'u".

It baffles me why people choose to make themselves look like idiots.

Wow give some input ... pls don't troll my thread. I take into account everyone's opinions on this. Aigo and Zepper make like 20 posts a day lol and the rest of you know your stuff as well. The Stacker STC-T01 and the Armor are the ones I'm debating on rite now.

I spent the whole nite taking apaprt my p2 450 and tossed my P4 Prescott into the old Enlight Case. It's going to be an oven in there since there i are no fan slots for it besides an 8cm intake.

I finally put the a8n-sli with my opty 165 into my SuperFlower 201s which I paid $200 for and discovered I have like 8 hard drives in there running on 4x 8cm fans.

Enough with the rambling, I may consider the Armor Jr also cuz it does look sweet. I just wanna stick all my pata drives in there and wait til they die so I can get me the terabytes.

Yes, I agree the 830 is not worth the money but it is so pimped out ... makes me drool! Should I set up a poll for the Armor and Stacker here or in a new thread? Any reasons why you would choose one over the other? Details guys! Hehe!

Btw, I really apprecaite the info you all have given me thus far~ You're all da bomb!!!

No, thats basically the hardest choice i had when i first picked my armor. Then i got the stacker, and then my final case, the TJ-07.

Both the stacker and armor are excellent cases, its just a matter of what look you prefer now.

And Shockwave, i saw the case up close. The dimensions on the case is correct, but appearence wise, it looks BIGGER then a TAI CHI. Things look different then the space it represents. u'll have to see one to fully understand what i mean.

And i like typing 'u' instead of you, because it takes less strokes. Also ive been typing on IM and and AOL a very long time ago, so things such as LOL and ROFL, are second habbit. If you have a problem with my wierd typing, i can careless, but your seriously OFF TOPIC and that can result in a ban. Not to mention ur directly flaming me.
