I thought these required a fixed-frequency video card?

Website doens't look too bad, lots of legit items I believe. There are however many questionable things on whether this is spam and the numbers aren't adding up correctly.

We have one of these at work, hooked up to a medical imaging workstation. Beware, the image quality is horrendous. Low refresh rates as well. You may be better served spending a few more dollars for a low buck non trinitron tube.

You might consider the Samsung 19" DF955. There is a $50 MIR for this monitor. There is also a recent thread on this. Not a 20" Trinitron, but this is a "low end" Trinitron and is only 18.3" viewable. Just my 2 cents.

You guys didn't really checkout this item, did you?

See the coupon code gives you how much discount? and how much you pay for the monitor finally?

Could be $49 if you were lucky!

OKay, the best part is try to use this coupon at least once.

These guys are legit, well.....at least 3 years ago when I got my first monitor from them. Mine was a fixed 60hz......yea that sounds bad, but it didn't bug me too much. I do prefer my current compaq p900 much more either way. I think most folks would be much happier with a "regular" monitor anyways. Someone can take mine for $50 if they are in SF Bay Area :). The description say vertically flat, which looks more like them older non-Wega Sony's.

These monitors aren't that bad. I picked up 5 of them about a year ago. Some had a slight ghosting problem but I think that was more of an inferior cable problem. For $50 it's a steal for a decent monitor.

Edit:
1280x1024 @75 Hz
1152x864 @85 Hz
1024x768 @100 Hz
800x600 @125 Hz
640x480 @160 Hz

whats wrong with these refresh rates?

Man....these things only cost $50 shipped? THats a pretty good deal. I think most people here expect at least 85Hz at 1280x1024.

I've already ordered a 17" new monitor from Staples deal but I thought I'd give this one a try too. I "test" ordered first with false name and it came to $49 total fedex ground. So I placed an order for real and chose their "use paypal" option of payment. Paid $49 total through paypal and completed my order. It's supposedly on it's way. I think if I receive it this will be a really good deal, if the monitor works and has those refresh rates listed. Thanks for the post and coupon code. I don't know how else you could get this good of a deal without the code. Hope the mods don't make you take it off.

No, it is not flat. In the past, monitor tubes were in the shape of a bubble, but this one is more of a cylinder shape.....make sense? This probably uses the same tube as older non-wega sony tv. A flat sony would be called an FD trinitron.

I use one of these on my Radeon 8500 dual head. I have the Sun monitor on the primary head and a Samsung 955DF on my second. What people will want to know about this is:

-Despite the high dps, this is a Sony trinitron tube, and they have a very nice picture
-Most won't run at a lower resolution than 1024x768@60Hz
-You will need to run a utility that allows you to sync-on-green (like Powerstrip)
-If you are a gamer, this is probably not going to work as a single monitor solution. Quite a few games run their menu system at 640x480 before you start into the game at 1024x768 or more. If you use it in a dual monitor situation however and mirror the monitors while you game, it's pretty cool, then you can set it back to an expanded desktop when you're not gaming. If you're not a gamer, then this is a great monitor
-This monitors are built to last. Mine has a production date of 1996 on it, but it runs like brand new, and I expect it will last me for many many years to come.
-If you live in a larger town with some used computer hardware around, I would check locally before ordering something like this online. Pretty much any day of the week I can run by local shops here in Denver and pick one of these monitors up for $50.

Hope this helps!

I did a search and didn't find this one, where did you see this?

The code works to get anything at shipping cost. Something is not right with that site.

heh..the coupon adds a zero to the total amount of costs..so if the total is say $369.00. you will get a $3690.00 discount from the coupon..obviously a glitch that the company cannot afford to pay. you could buy the whole store and pay only shipping costs...
