As to the photo with the wind turbine on fire. On know they infil/exfil via the tubular structure rising from the ground that supports the machinery at top. The access panel is towards the rear, so the fire was blocking access to it.
I wonder if they know have some sort of climbing rigging gear that they could easily hook up in the front in case of an emergency and make a manual descent. The blades aren't spinning when they are up there anyway.
Considering these Wind Turbines kill some 440,000 birds, often birds of prey which is important, maybe they are fighting back.
