As of January 1st, 2009, Slysoft will change its update policy from free lifetime updates to an annual subscription fee. All license purchases made before January 1st, 2009 will not be affected by this change; as promised, all licenses purchased before 2009 will still be honoured under Slysoft's free lifetime update policy.

SlySoft announces this step in advance in order to provide its customers with the choice between the old and new licensing model. Buyers who act quickly can get an additional discount with the current ongoing special promotion.

Better buy it soon..

I think a previous post said as much, but just to be clear:

AnyDVD will take a dual layer DVD and put it on a blank dual layer DVD? I am sick of shrinking movies to fit on a single layer disk. I don't mind buying dual layer disks, I seriously only want to have copies of all the kids movies for my van.

AnyDVD has one sole purpose: it is a Windows driver which descrambles the DVD content so it can be directly accessed. That is all it does.

You still have to use other software (like DVDShrink, CloneDVD, etc.) to shrink the dual layer disc down to single layer. AnyDVD has nothing to do with this process - it just makes it look like the DVD is unprotected to any software you use on it. If you don't want to shrink the DVDs, you can buy dual layer DVDs and make one-to-one copies.

BTW, I do the exact same thing that you do as my young nieces are really tough on DVDs while traveling. I just make some throw-away single layer DVD-R copies for trips so it doesn't matter if they get scratched up or are otherwise destroyed.

I have found out that after they switch to the new subscrition; you will have the choice of 1,2,3,4 yr subs and lifetime, but at an increased price.

How many of you got anydvd hd before they swithed to the crazy euro pricing? Just ordered today and was twice as much as it was a few years ago; still a good deal IMHO. also if you have only anydvd and want to upgrade to HD you need to do it now as well for 30euro otherwise after tonight it will be 70-80 euro for just any dvd hd which is close to $100.

Huh? Are you afraid Slysoft will get angry at you for buying their product and hunt you down? Do you wear a tinfoil hat?

Seriously though, what is the legality of this? This company is in Antigua for a reason, but what is the deal in the US? I know you can make copies of your media for backup (fair use) but then there's the DMCA says that circumventing copy prevention technologies is illegal.

Be careful not to have AnyDVD HD (or possibly other software of theirs) active on more than 1 pc at a time. They are really anal about it now and will disable your key. Had this happen to me when I bought a new pc and failed to uninstall it off the old one first. Had it set to auto-load on startup and bam! Said my trial period was over on both. Then they will warn you that they will only replace it once...

Any thoughts on which of these programs in discussion work the best with DVD-Shrink and Windows Vista 64 OS?

Just got a new computer with the 64 bit OS and it has been twitchy with some programs. I'm loading DVD-Shrink tonight (which I have loved using under Win XP). I am wondering DVD-Shrink's compatibility with Slysoft under Vista 64 since DVD-Shrink is not being patched.
Anyone use this combination of stuff?
Happy New Year everyone!

Circumventing the copy protection makes it illegal according to the DMCA even before "fair use" comes into play. Unless you're a school, using part of the material for teaching and some other allowed situations. Making a copy of what you own for your own use is not permitted if you have to crack the digital encryption.

Meh. I gave up Slysoft stuff two years ago, but its your money
IMHO............
Best DVD Cloner is DVDFab (5.2.3.0). This is the one everybody uses.
Dont need any decrypter or shrinker, you can even pick the burn engine used
http://dvdfab.com/docs/
#2 is DVDNextcopy
#3 is 1 Click DVD

Heres a review site (but they didnt include DVDFab)
http://www.dvdcloningsoftware.com/

And CDFreaks has the best burning softwares forum

Well, those clever little blu ray folks put in new encryption in mid '07 that put a block in your burner firmware if you tried to copy and bypass protection. Older BR discs should still work.

http://club.cdfreaks.com/f116/...ized-dvdfab-hd-220031/

Heres a webpage that has BR tut for imageburn and CDBurnerXP Freeware
http://wesleytech.com/copy-blu-ray-freeware/178/
http://wesleytech.com/burn-blu...urning-bd-r-discs/713/

The slysoft stuff that rips with bluray is "barely legal" as I understand it, but dunno.

FWIW I dont use Bluray, but nero 9.2.6.0 seems to have a very full (working?) plug in for those discs.
BR was going away, then it came back, so I dont really know what the status is now for copying like maybe once for oneself as a backup.

i'm having problems reading the disk with dvdfab... it won't even see the drive, let alone read or burn from it.... it's a strange problem. AnyDVD will work with it... but I don't feel like paying $100 bucks for it
