20" LCD with 18" LCD resolution

I got a Philips 200P3M LCD monitor from a friend. It's a trial run product. Got all the functions of the final production except one thing: its was only recognize as a 18" LCD with 1280x1024 resolution. The 200P3M offers 1600x1200. Is there any way I can tell WinXP to ignore the information from monitor and display 1600x1200.

PS. I am using DVI-D cable.

TIA

Did you try turning off the checkbox that says 'Hide modes that this monitor cannot display'. You might be able to override it that way.

You can also go into dxdiag and under more help, there is an override for the refresh rates....

Not sure you can do this with XP, but in windows 98 we used to pick a monitor with similar specs when working with really new hardware.

I tried that, but didn't work.

Maybe I should talk to the source see if I can get the LCD flashed with new firmware.
