Unfortunately for the driver, he got lost from Florida and Oklahoma where it is perfectly legal to intentionally plow over people in the street - but republicans haven't passed that law yet in Wisconsin.

Although seeing as it was a black driver running over white folks, that immunity law wouldn't in practice apply in FL or OK either, it only works the other way around.
 
Parades in general need better barricades. A similar thing happened at Oklahoma State's homecoming parade, except it was intentional. Since then they've been using concrete barricades.

My city outside OKC uses multiple layers of the water filled barricades. Too many crazy and stupid people in the world.

The police should've probably also called off the chase when he was approaching the parade route. I have mixed feelings about police chases, and this is why, way too many innocent people impacted by the fleeing criminal.

You'll probably see this as a more common practice now. Hard to close of EVERY cross street like that though. But a cop car parked sideways works too

Yeah, I actually ended up in on a parade route once in Bentonville Arkansas. I was in a park near the end of the route setting up a mechanical bull, needed to go get something from Lowe's. When I left the park there was no barricade or even a sign saying the road was closed. So I'm following some the directions and all of a sudden I see the parade in front of me. Luckily I was able to turn down a side street that also wasn't blocked off. This was probably 2003 or 04.

K-rail isn't that hard to setup and I bet the vast majority of cities have it on hand or could get it easily.

The problem is there are sooooo many parades in so many cities. I mean around here, every city, town and village has a parade for Christmas and J4th of July. Certainly some/more is better than none. I'm positive, especially around here, that we'll see more K Rail being used and roads more physically blocked off

My family was involved in this. My nephew was marching in the Waukesha South HS band that got hit. He's literally saved because the POS decided to go left instead of keeping straight when he plowed into them. I will not watch any of these videos in full length. I can't. There's another angle of this from curbside with my nephew front and center and you can see the car swerve behind him and go left.

I talked to both my sisters who were there as it happened - right in front of them. My BIL pulled bloodied instruments off the road. My sister had to call parents for kids that were too shook-up themselves to do it. They were horribly shaken by the whole thing. Friends of theirs are still in surgery this morning. Just horrible, horrible stuff.

BIL was quoted in the NYT and on Good Morning America. Anger. Sadness. Disbelief. Mostly anger though. Ironically anger that there's so much anger and violence in the world. I dunno WTF is going on anymore. This crap is unsustainable. Even if the guy was feeling from a previous crime (reportedly a stabbing) that's just more anger and violence.

We really need to give this place back to the plants on and animals. We've failed miserably.
