HI,

I have an ata 100 5400 rpm maxtor HD on my Asus av133a. I have the raid 0 option. If I add a 2nd 54oo rpm maxtor ( on sale this week ) will it give me better performance than a single 7200 rpm HD?
I am using win 98 se but will be upgrading to 2000 also.
Duron 700 at 6.5 x 133
384 megs of ram
radeon VE

Thanks in advance :)

HI,
Has anyone done a comparison of the above HD configurations? I may
just by the maxtor 5400 rpm drive and try the raid 0 .....If SSandra scores show no improvment to justify losing the extra storage space I'll use it as a slave in my daughter's system....

Undoubtelly, the 7200RPM drive will be faster. Raid has almost no speed gain when working on a desktop environment.

HI,
Thanks for the reply ....I will go the 7200 rpm route and move the 5400 rpm.
