Well my order for 1 gift card went through but I got charged the $10, not the $5 I initially was charged for it after using the link Arik5405 provided. I'd still would have gotten one at $10 but that was disappointing.

Umm, youre supposed to get charged $10. Why would you think it would be $5? And no, that deal cash or whatever its called does not work on the amazon GC deal... So they made a mistake charging you $5 initially and then corrected it. Makes sense...

Guy, I can only go by what the site informed me and it it was going just to charge me just $5 dollars. That they changed the rules of the deal later on and charged me the full $10 was disappointing. That's it period.

Got the email and redeemed my code with no problems. The charge hasn't hit my card yet so I don't know if they're gonna charge me $5, $10, or $20. I only bought one GC.

actually since it's fine to buy a $20 GC and the $10 off is limited to one customer, amazon processed the order as it should have been.

In counterpoint, should they have cancelled it when the customer needed those GC's right away; he'd equally complain.
 
I just got my code. It had a button to apply to my amazon account too. So now, the next time I buy something on amazon, I have $20 credit 🙂

both wife and I got our $20 GC. applied them successfully to my amazon acct. I signed up with two emails before seeing the 1 per person limit. My other acct doesnt show a purchase in the deals or acct tab. Not complaining though. I dont see a CC charge yet, but I know for sure that over 3 people used my referral link. Will have to wait and see what I get charged

No, the point is they processed his purchase and gave him a receipt showing he paid $10, then charged him $21. Are you suggesting that it's Ok to buy a loaf of bread at Safeway for $1, and have Safeway charge your card $2 when you get home?????

It's one thing to say that the system made an error and should not have sold the item at $10, therefore you're cancelling the order. It's another to charge more because you feel like you sold the item too cheaply - through whatever honest or dishonest means the purchaser used. "Sorry, I thought you were my uncle but now that I see you're not, I'm going to charge your credit card more than we agreed."

I'm not saying the attempt wasn't dishonest, just that I don't believe there's any reasonable ground to "punish" the dishonesty in that way.

I do.....

The DEAL was one $20 giftcard for $10. He decided to try and exploit the system thinking he could buy multiple but the deal was for only one. They said, "hummm, well it is only 1 per person, so he must want to purchase many more for the normal price" and that is what they got.

For your bread analogy... If there was a deal on the bread at safeway that was $1 for first loaf, limited to 1 per person, and they decided to buy 10 loaves of bread thinking they would get them all for $1 each. Yes, I would expect their card to be charged $1 for one loaf and the normal price for each additional loaf.

I guess the lesson would be, dont be a greedy prick and try to make money off a generous deal and screw over future deals.


To be honest, I doubt they are really going to charge said person $21 for the multiple copies. I am sure they will just get canceled. I mean, doing that probably is not legal. I dont see how any credit card company would allow someone to get stuck like that.

Received my email, redeemed the code, applied it to my account and now have a $20 credit just waiting to be spent at Amazon. 🙂
