Anyone know a decent 22" monitor that has scaling for under $300? Reason is because i need it for my Ps3.

All monitors have some kind of scaling, usually stretch to full screen. There are no 22" monitors in existence that can display a 16:9 image without distorting it to 16:10.

Only the Gateway does it right in that size, but I'm not sure if it works over HDMI/DVI as well as component. Rather more than $250 though.

You can always set your video card to scale instead.

Edit: Whoops misread your post, lol my mistake

Don't want a CRT, thanks though.

No problem. I just know that is the easiest way to scale well to other screen resolutions, which was your stated problem. Hope you figure out what will work for you!

To my knowledge, sceptre makes the only 22" that has different scaling options that can be selected from within the monitor. Maybe a gateway? Never really found any confirmation of that.

My 24" Soyo can scale between 16:10 and 4:3 resolution in the monitor. it only has VGA and DVI inputs, though, and I have no idea if it will work with a PS3. I bought it for $299.

You can buy a 23-inch or 26 inch HDTV TV set with component and HDMI input. The resolution is 1366x768 and these sets have the proper 16:9 aspect ratio.

This is the reason you see TV sets being used in stores to display PS3 and XBox 360 demos. The consoles are made for 16:9 HDTV, not for computer monitors.

Beware of some new 19-inch TV sets with 1440x900 native rez.

Personally, I would live with the 16:9 > 16:10 compaction if I wanted to use a computer monitor with a console.

I have a BenQ 24", and it has aspect ratio correct scaling - my friend's Xbox 360 outputs 1080p, and I have small black bars on the top and bottom to "fit" 1080p inside 1200p.

I tried that but it looked really crappy. Any 20" have the scaling option?

Thinking a bit more about this, it seems there is currently no monitor with 16:10>16:9 scaling. The only solution I see is that a 16:9>16:10 scaling option would be implemented in a future firmware update of the PS3. This would work in a way similar to NVidia Scaling on a computer.

If enough PS3 owners ask for this option, Sony might implement it. This doesn't solve you short-term problem though.

I have a Dell 2007WFP and it does 1:1 scaling for 16:9. The only annoying thing is that it always defaults to filling the screen when changing resolutions, so you always have to change it manually to 1:1.

Of course, this is 20", but if one Dell has it, there must be others...

If you want to play PS3 , you dont want a computer monitor

Also, ALL LCDs have scale distortion from their native resolution.
