2 year old computer will not post!

Ok so I restarted my computer after installing Rise of Nations torrent (I have a key from a friend but no cd) and now my computer will not post. Tried resetting the cmos jumper with no luck.

All of the fans work, the motherboard warning light is on when my side panel is removed and it sounds like the hard drive turns on boot up, however, the activity light never lights up and of course no posting noise at all.

I have an asus a8n sli-dlx in which the southbridge heatsink that I installed snapped a pin and is no longer seated correctly. Could the mobo have simply burned out on restart? I am thinking of getting a new mobo to try out, though if this sounds like a hard drive issue (but why wouldn't it post, right?) I could remedy the situation alot more quickly. Thanks in advance!

Does the case power led light up?
Is there any beep code?

Fans and drives powering-up doesn't mean anything except that they're getting power, which they can do even with a 100% dead MB. One super-easy thing you could try would be to remove and reinstall the vid card. I used to have a computer that doing that would fix POST failures. Sure, it probably won't help, but it definately won't hurt (don't forget to unplug the computer first).

Alright thanks, I will try the video card fix, though as i mentioned no beeps and only the power light is on but not the hd activity light in my lan li case.
