2 water cooling questions:

1) Is it possible to buy a reserator without the included water block?

2)Can anyone recomend a socket 939 waterblock that DOES NOT require the motherboard to be removed for install purposes?
 
1) no... dont think so............ If your handy with tools, I dont see why you cant make your own reserator though.... you could custom it to fit inside or screwmount to the outside of your case too.....
2) its safer to mount the block with screws which would require you to remove the board.... there's nothing worse than your computer turning into an fishtank when the clip breaks

2)But there is a mounting clip, and I intend to use non-conductive fluid, so no big deal there.

I'm looking for a Zalman Reserator by itself, without the water block bundle.
 
the clip on the zalman module is held on via screws.... and also NEEDS the mounting plate when used with s754/s939

I don't understand why you're so set on the reserator.... as I said before, there are other products that are better... plus I think the consensus is that you cant get the reserator by itself... so why try??? all the reserator is is a fanless radiator.... I saw a dangerden radiator that screwed onto the side of the case (outside) .... looked much more efficient than the reserator

you seem to want to go to the trouble of getting a water cooling setup but dont want to take out the mobo? that doesnt make sense
and finally... even if its non conductive fluid, you still have to clean up the mess!

if you have some psychosis where you abolutley need the reserator then why dont you just buy the kit and sell the waterblock..... jeez 😛

I love the concept of the Reservator, but am put off by the cost.
What materials would you use to build something similar to the reservator tower?
I've thought about using aluminum pipe and fastening several of these-type coolers onto it.
Or maybe even a cool can with the lines cut to allow water to circulate around inside the can.


 
I just like the reserator, and was looking into it as a possible option. I wanted to know if it was availabe separatly.

Secondly, I want an integrated unit, with only 2 tubes, hence reducing the possible leaks and issues.

I might consider a peice-by-piece system, however, if I can't find anything suitable.

And I would really not like to take out my mobo, as that would take time, effort, and put my stuff at risk. Also, my comp would be down for longer.

Idealy, I would like an internal, single piece system, if one is available.

If you want a low mess/fuss solution... some people try old car/motorbike radiators.... find one in good condition so no leaks.... 🙂

The reserator I think is actually no morethan a giant pipe with heatsinks attached... eg. the water doesnt go through the fins... the principle performance comes from the fact that you use a large amount of water
so your idea of a large tank with heatinks attached will almost be as good as the reserator (depending on size and method of attachment).... the benefit comes from the fact that you may be able to customize it inside your case / and or find a way to convieniently mount it outside....
finally the pump used in the reserator is what water cooling addicts would call "very tame"

and to the OP, I think water cooling and "little effort" are oxymorons... otherwise intel would have offered them as stock cooling already 😛

That drive bay system is nifty...

And it is to possible to have "little effort" water cooling!
The reserator and that the drive bay system prove it! Ha!
