I do a lot of solidworks/cam type stuff that requires the use of a Quadro FX. I have an asus a8n-sli deluxe motherboard.

Is it possible to put a gaming card in the other pci-e slot and swap the monitor cable when i want to game?

I would also be happy with a setting change and a reboot to make this work, i want the best of both worlds without having to tear apart the rig and manualy swap the card, i think the slot would wear out fast.

I'm pretty sure you can. Are you sure you can't game decently on the quadro and/or can't work on the gaming card? Some Quadros are rather decent for games, and vice versa.
