Overall I felt the game was way too short, and too much dark areas where you had to use your flash light. As long as it took to be released I expected more! They used a bunch of the same areas/mapping. So not a lot when into it, just the next chapter of the story. Kind of like the new SIN series. I guess the new way of games are one story w/10-12 game Episodes...great for story lines, little hard on the wallet. Paying 20 bucks for each episode not sure about that???

HL2 (the 1st one) I too could only play for an 1/2- 1 hour, before I started getting motion sickness. When that happens you know the game is GOOD!

I can tell you you're generally in the minority there. I enjoyed Episode 1 a LOT more than I expected too, considering HL2 came out a year and a half ago - even more than I enjoyed the original itself, even if it was short. I also doubt we'll see series of 10-12 episodes where the games still cost $20 each... There are only 3 slated for HL2 right now. You could argue that that's a lot for 4-5 hours per game, but to me Episode 1 was every bit as enjoyable as a full length game, just with the 'filler' cut out.

What's with this motion sickness deal? I barely noticed the motion blur. I had to go back and really look at it closely to even notice it. I guess people are lot more sensitive than others.

I'm about 5 hours into the game and probably 75% done, but this expansion reeks of polished quality. The elevator scene was awesome ;)

I'm also enjoying the prevalence of enclosed creepiness that made HL1 so fun. The new zombies are pretty cool, too.

3 Episdoes = $20 bucks each = about $60 = HL2 costed about that much at launch = make sense?

there is no motion blur... if there was Valve would've mentioned it. Valve has already said that the new technologies introduced in Episode One are HDR, Commentary, optimisations from the Xbox version and the new lighting model on Alyx...

wow.. lots of praise for a game i was extremely underwhelmed with.

it's polished, for certain, but while the graphics look fresh, the game itself feels dated since it simply reuses previous content from HL2 - just alot less of it as there are no vehicles, varied terrain, etc. - all the things which made HL2 such fun. weapons and enemies have been regurgitated (save one) from HL2. playing ping pong with energy balls for 2/3 of it doesn't help either. it also doesn't advance the story much, adds absolutely nothing new (other than lighting and slightly better textures) and finishing it in under 4 hours also left me disappointed.

i certainly hope episode 2 provides more content....
