2 short cop stories

1.) I was driving home 2 nights ago, and I end up being behind a cop. Coincidently we end up making all the same turns (4 stop signs) until a block before my house.

At all four stop signs I make sure to use my blinker and even come to almost a complete stop. But the cop on the other hand never once used his blinker and never fully stopped at any sign. And he wasn't rushing to get anywhere, cuz he was going 25-30mph in a 25 zone.

2.) I'm stopped at a light waiting to turn left. The cross traffic is making a left and ending up in the lane to my left. There are several cars lined up and turning. The first one is a cop.

He turns left, but comes to a complete stop on the pedestrian walkway. So now he is immediately next to me, and I am on my cell phone, so I'm thinking that he is staring at me or something, but he is just sitting there, not looking at anything.

For a few seconds he remains there, and all the cars get backed up behind him. Then he starts moving again and pulls over to the right, and then nothing. i guess he was listening to his police radio, but why would you stop in the middle of the intersection to do that?

---
Recently I've been starting to notice more and more things like this. I generally don't get upset, because i don't know the whole story, I just see what I see. I mean there probably IS an explanation, but I sure wouldn't mind understanding it once in a while.

1. Cops are still human. If you work for 10-12 hours and most of that time is spent driving around, you're bound to get a little lazy with the small details. I'm not condoning it, but again cops are human.

2. This one is pretty vague...it's hard to say what he was doing.

1. He was probably worried about you stalking him.
2. AgaBooga's explanation makes the best sense.

That's cool.
Like I said, I'm not really pissed off or anything. Its just after a while when you keep noticing stuff like that it gets annoying.

Patrol cops drive randomly for personal safety. They don't signal and make unexpected lane changes to protect themselves. They seldom drive the same routes at the same times. They try to be unpredictable.

If you aren't doing anything wrong it's unlikely they will bother you.

i thought about that, so I made a point of turning on my blinker before he would get to the intersection, so he would think i was following him. It was almost like he was following me, but from the front (if that makes sense).

LOL now that you say that you signaled way in advance, he probably was following you.

Or some have little interest in obeying traffic laws when it doesn't suit them.
