While I said I was too lazy to create a new thread, now Newegg has it starting at $160 AR. This is $10 more, you got that right, only $10 more than the X800GTO^2.

As far as I can tell, the card is the same card in all 3, just different package.

X850XT
100106L RETAIL <- $133 AR!
100106SR-RD RETAIL <- $149 AR!
100106-RD OEM <- Gone?

X1800XT
100154L RETAIL <- $219 AR!
100154L OPEN BOX <- $199!
100154 OPEN BOX <- $199!
100154SR <- $229 AR!

Just filled out Newegg's RMA form and am going to return my X800GTO^2 and get one of these instead. Got a confusing email about a shipping label that turns out to really just be an identification label. Called Newegg regarding this just to be 100% sure and spoke to a really impatient lady ><. While she did try to be helpful, she definitely wanted to get rid of me ASAP. Kept saying "okay, bye bye, thank you sir, etc" while I was still talking!! Horrible experience.

Damn, I just paid $170 for a refurb. The fan can get pretty noisy, BTW, FX5800U dustbuster heaven!

I might try underclocking the card, hopefully keeping noise levels down. Now that you mention the noise, I just remembered why I got the x800gto^2 instead. Oh well not gonna do another swap :p

With fan set to "auto" it is quietest but not sufficient... dunno why (maybe from refurb) but it never spins up by itself. It was overheating and visually glitching at last weekend's LAN party (pLANned Chaos) and I had to manually kick it up using Rivatuner, then visual glitches went away. With Rivatuner set to lowest 25% speed, was noisier than at "auto."

Are there any decent aftermarket coolers for these that aren't so loud? I was going to pick one of these up last week before the rebate when the price was like $10 higher...I'm almost afraid that they'll keep going down...but I'm also afraid they'll go out of stock. Yarrgghh!

Fvck it, I'm in as well. Its like a law that prices drop on any item I want right after I purchase it so I might as well get it over with. :p

Why the bizarre price fluctuations for this card? Realtime Pricing There are dozens of cards that are slower and have the same price or are more expensive (X800XL/XT, 6800GS/GT, etc). Newegg must just be trying to clear out inventory (or it's a price mistake or actually refurb). It seems like the smart buying strategy for video cards is to wait for two refreshes (x1800->x1900) and then buy what was top-of-the-line a year ago at a massive discount.

There is no way someone could justify a X1900XT on the basis of performance/price, considering it costs almost 3 times as much as this card, for what, 50% better framerates at max resolution?

I do agree that these are the best bang/buck for video cards at this time. Anyone looking to get any X800-series GT GTO, GTO², XL, Pro should be looking at this card (unless used in a SFF case). Also, people in the market for Geforce 6600GT, 6800XT, 6800, 6800GS, 6800GT should all be looking at this card too, unless they are ATI haters. :p This deal makes it a definate buy if you are needing a PCIe video card and are willing to spend over $150 but can't afford a 7800GT.

I'd be pissed, and pretty surprised if newegg sent me a refurb...especially one with a mail in rebate. :p

I don't know what the deal is. I've been shopping for a card for oblivion for a little while and after hearing all the stuff about unlocked gto2s I thought I'd finally make a foray into ATIs offerings. But then I noticed that the x850xts for PCIe hardly cost any more...making the gto2 kind of a waste. I almost bought this last week for $190.

I believe the AGP versions of these cards still demand a pretty high price though. But AGPers getting screwed up the pooper seems to be the market MO these days I'm afraid.

I'm in...this is a GREAT price on a pretty powerful card. It offers ~92%-95% of the performance of a 7800GT for ~62% of the cost (i.e., $165 for the X850XT verses $270 for a 7800GT). Can you say "bang for buck" LEADER?;)

I'm adding a fan controller to my next PC build so when I'm watching a movie or listening to music I just turn down the fan speeds on my case fans which reduces the dBs quite a bit.

Got the retail version for $165 BEFORE it went out of stock;) The other retail card is only $5 more at ~$170 and comes with a couple of games:).

The fans on these are definately NOT quiet. They are quietest on "auto" but mine never seems to ramp up even when I'm getting visual glitches from overheating (not even overclocked). When manually set, fan is louder, all the way to 100% speed and fan is horrendously loud. No big deal since I'm using it for LAN parties only (noisy environment and headphones) but easily the noisiest part of the whole system.

I never can make sense of whether something will be loud to *me* or not from over the forums. My computer is pretty loud right now, but I consider it acceptable. Some people would say its a blow drier though. I guess I'll just have to wait and see when it comes! And if its to loud I'll have to start hunting for a deal on a silencer! It never ends!

At least my curse was broken with this...it went out of stock instead of going down in price like I expected. :p

Damn, this thing came fast. Ordered it at about 10am, showed up at the office at about 11:30 the next day!

I put the 6.2 cats on with ati tray tools, and cranked the fan up to 40% and just set it to run at that all the time. So its running at about 39idle and was 50 and some change load after some DoD:S. Its kind of loud, but my PC was so damn loud to begin with its already just become part of the background noise. The defaultfan settings in that tool looked like they were crap I believe. I think it had to get to 92 degrees before it did anything or something?

Didn't it say ETA on the cheap one was 3/10 or something? The rebate is good until the end of the month.
