Someone here a couple of years ago linked me to a simple site that helped me when i setup my home network originally like 2-3 years ago. I cant locate it on this board or thru google, mainly because i dont know the terms and what its called. Orginally one modem was a vonage/router and that crashed so we swapped out a modem but my brother RESET both routers so we lost all the settings and he was messing with all the wiring.
This is pretty much what i have. Im 95% sure its called an access point since thats where i got the picture from. Both are linksys routers modded with DD-WRT. They are linked via CAT5 cable. One router is wifi for the front of the house and one is the rear (basement and garage). They ran on two different SSID and pretty much were two separate networks. I like it and want it that EXACT way.
I read i have to change the subnet, but everytime i change it to say 192.168.13.1, i cant log back into the router. I thought maybe i should log in with the 192.186.1.1 or 192.168.13.1, neither works and i'm locked out in a sense.
The only setup i have working is i think a "bridge" this is where the CAT5 cable goes from LAN 2 and to LAN 2 of the routers. But that means they are on the same network. I'm pretty sure i had it LAN 2 to internet IN on the second router.
Anyone know how i can set it up the way i had it?
