2 quick questions about 512MB DDR RAM... Please help!

So... I am going to purchase some RAM in the next couple hours. I am buying DDR RAM for an ABIT KR7-RAID with 4 DIMM slots. I am thinking about buying Kingston DDR 266 PC2100 512 MB. I have a couple questions which I will try and ask clearly:

1. What do you think of Kingston for the brand of 512 MB sticks? I know Crucial is great, but they don't have 512 MB sticks. my Choices are between Kingston, Axiom and Simple Tech.

2. If price was not a concern, would you go ahead and get ECC Registered RAM?

3. What do you think of this price? Kingston PC2100 512MB ECC REG. for about $60 a piece?

I've heard Kingston isn't so hot when it comes to ram. I think mushkin is selling their 512 stick for 60 bucks as well. Not sure if its still at that price though. As for ecc, I've been told it is not worth it, and might actually hinder your system unless you really do need the ecc feature.

ECC will be slower than non-parity RAM. Generally servers use ECC as the name implies - Error Checking & Correction.
Yes, it will be reliable but definitely not as quick.

ECC...It only slows it down a little bit, and in most cases is not noticable at all.

But if it isn't going into a server. save your money.

Alright, so skip ECC registered RAM...
What do you think about 512 MB DDR266 for $60? What brand of the above options do you think is the best? If I can get Mushkin CAS 2-3-3 for $90, would that be worth the extra $30 over CAS 2 Kingston? Ahh, too many options! Does Kingston make they own chips or are they another brand on Kingston boards (like Infinion or Micron?)? Thanks again...

Mushkin are right up there with Crucial when it comes to RAM - I've generally heard good things about Kingston too, not as much as Mushkin though

Mushkin is outstanding. Crucial has always been a good value leader, but for serious memory technology in the OC world, Mushkin (Colorado) and Memoryman (Florida) have been the real leaders where $$$ was secondary to quality.

Kingston makes good memory. Usually, it's on par with Crucial, as both are used by OEMs (Dell, for example). Mushkin makes higher end memory generally, but don't waste your money. As a rule, go with the cheapest decent memory, which in this case would be Kingston.
I'd like to know though where you're getting Kingston CAS2 DDR266 SDRAM for $60...

BTW, Simple makes decent memory as well. This again is OEM used. Both Simple and Kingston use the same chips on their DDR memory, which are NANYA and are very good. Mushkin has also been using the same chips, but the difference with muchkin is that the memory chips are handpicked and tested for a certain speed and their PCBs.
