Athlon is slower than P3 but it's more bang for your buck, right?

For about $300, what monitor gives the best qualtiy image?

Yes on old Athlon vs. P3. But the old Athlon is an outdated type too, where the CPU is encased inside a large black plastic cartridge.

Duron systems are very economical too, and can later be upgraded to a new Athlon Thunderbird, which is marginally better than P3, generally.

Faster really comes down to faster doing what? I'll give my opinion on which one is overall faster.

The non-Thunderbird Slot-A Athlon (K7) is slower than the Coppermine P3 for most tasks. The K7 Athlon is faster than the Katmai P3. The Thunderbird (K75) Athlon is faster than the Coppermine P3. Read some reviews of the processors and you will see how they compare at different tasks.

The AMD solution is a better bang for your buck assuming you do not already have a BX or Apollo Pro 133 motherboard.
