2 questions with poll

I have two questions and didn't want to start two topics so I will combine them

1) I have been looking to get either an MX510 or an MX1000. I know the MX1000 is wireless but is there anything else that would make the MX1000 worth the ~$30 price difference

2) I currently have a SB Live and I was wondering if going to an Audigy 2 ZS would be worth it in sound quality and performance in games.

1) imo, the mx1000 is more comfortable.

2) the sound quality will only be as good as your speakers are.

1) Don't get an MX510, and ESPECIALLY don't get an MX1000, get an MX700. Slightly cheaper than the MX1000, better drivers, and no problems with the laser shutting off on its own when you pick it up and reposition it. I've used both wireless and like the MX700 tons better. The MX1000 was completely and utterly unusable for me. Yes, I said unusable.

The reason I recommend the MX700 over the MX510 is because it's wireless. I personally do not like having to tug the cord around when I play, and I've found the wireless mouse to be more accurate as a result.

2) Are you talking about the Live 5.1? (I think that's the only Live, isn't it?) If so, then the two cards are more or less the same. I got an Audigy 2 ZS because I wanted superior performance for audio encoding, recoding, recording, editing, and so on. Unfortunately I don't have a comparison between the two for those functions, as I only used the Audigy 2 ZS for the audio app. However, I do know that the Audigy 2 ZS comes with some more nifty software extras than the live does. I don't really have a sound comparison since it's been so long since I've switched, but I remember thinking the Audigy 2 ZS is better. I believe the Signal-to-noise ratio is better on the ZS, too.

Summary: 1) Definately buy the MX700. 2) If you're messing with lots of audio files, get a ZS. If you're just listening, get a Live.

I bought a mx510 a month ago and I love it more than my MS Intellimouse Explorer wireless. It doesn't bother me about being tethered to the computer because the mouse wire is long enough to be unobtrusive. With the wireless mouse, I didn't like changing batteries or even dealing with charging. Of course, it's a matter of preference and I'm sticking with a wired unit.

Go with the MX1000 unless you pick up your mouse a lot... some people do, some don't, for those who don't the MX1000 is amazing.

1.Id say a MX510 or an MX700 (I love mine)

2. Id just keep the SB Live. Audigy2s are generally overpriced for listening power.

I've been using the generic dell keyboard for like 2 years now. It's not fancy, but I'm used to it. Plus, no extra buttons to get in the way. I wouldn't use em anyhow. And it's generally cheaper than other keyboards, and maybe slightly more reliable than the ones that are cheaper than it.

As a side note, I noticed some people complaining about battery life with wireless mouse. With my MX700, I just have to reiterate that I've never EVER had a battery die on me. All I do is put it on the charger when I'm not using it, and that's that. (But y'know, just in case a battery implodes or something, I have 4 2500mAh AAs on an Energizer charger waiting =D)

Yea just go with a regular keyboard, I picked up a no name brand black USB keyboard with a non detachable wrist rest and I love it.

Mx510, i love my 500.

I'd only get the Audigy2 if your live is the 4.1 version and you've got extra money you don't want(and surround speakers).

As for keyboards i like my Logitech Elite Keyboard because it has the media control buttons and volume on it which i use alot.

I will probably just stay with my SB Live as it has 5.1 support and all I use is 5.1. The speakers and headphones aren't the greatest quality so I wouldn't hear the differnence between the two.

I upgraded from a SBLive! to an Audigy2 and there was a big difference in audio quality, however that was being piped through some high end Sennheiser cans, not lower end speakers.
