1:

I need a GOOD 16 port router..... I though SMC had one, but I guess not. It needs to have a print server in it. I did some researching and couldnt find any myself with 16 ports, so maybe you guys cna help me out

2.

For DSL connection, I know it goes from my DSL modem to a router or swtich, is there something I can do so i can have a 1 port dsl router, and then have it go into a switch? so the rest of my network will be fast (becuase of the switch) or will a router be fast enough?

I don't think there is entry level Cable/DSL Router with more then 8 ports switch.

You can find one port Cable/DSl Router, but it costs the same or few $$ less then the 4 ports Cable/DSL Router.

So, if you buy 1 port Router, and separate switch you spend more money. For a four-computer network, you gain nothing.

If you need more then four ports then you should consider the one port Cable/DSL Router solution.

Try this link, a lot of info about most switches:

what would be better for me? I need that one IP that I get from my DSL routed to about 8 - 10 PC's.

get a 1 port router and then have it goto a switch? or just stay with an 8 port router? which would be better for me?

and where can i find 1 port routers?

Get a 1 port router and link it to the switch of your choice, Linksys makes a single LAN port router for less than $100, model BEFSR11. Or the Netgear RT311.

thats pretty cool. so i think that i would go with this one instead. we have them at work. it has a separate wan port which is good cus it dosnt use up one of the 8 ports. i like the built in switch, 2 in 1 deal

About the Print Server. HP sells some call "HP JetDirect". We just ordered one (It is the 170X series). It has a 10 Mbps Ethernet port on it and you could just hook that up to the switch so you'd have a print server as well. This Print server costs about $120-$130 off of buy.com

There is no speed drop when you have a router and switch together.
