The operating system is WinNT 4.0 Workstation w/SP5 for both cases.
The client has an IBM laptop and has a hard drive that's formatted with two NTFS partitions, drive C: and D:. He also has an external zip drive. Drive C: is for operating system and drive D: is for applications. When he installs the external zip drive, it will assign itself drive D: and move the original drive D: to E:. The problem comes when applications that were installed to drive D: are now no longer found, the links are now incorrect. Is there a way to permanently assign the 2nd partition of the HD the "D:" letter? A way to permanently assign the zip drive a drive letter other than D:??
Another issue, client has a desktop and uses both MS Access and Excel. The client has a 50mb access file that he wishes to convert to excel format. Whenever he does the conversion, it will do up to 419 lines of code and then stall for 6-7 minutes before its complete. He has no trouble converting smaller files with ~70 lines of code, but the other one just seems to stall. The machine is a P3 733 w/256mb ram. The hd is not chewing, the memory is there, and the cpu is idle when the conversion stalls. Is there some sort of known bug about MS Access or Excel that causes this to happen? He said it was working fine just up to a week ago. Hasn't done anything unique or installed any new apps within that time period. The conversion does complete, but way longer than usual.
If you can address either problems that'd be great, thx.
