2 power supplies, whick 1 to buy and how to install them

I want to build a custom case and install 2 power supplies. I was thinking that I would have one power supply power the MB/and cpu fans/hdds and have the other one power the case fans and the cdrom/cdr/dvd-rom. Is there a diagram anywhere? What do I do with the motherboard connectors on the 2nd power supply? Thanks.
