i'm new to PCIe ... but, is it possible to get a board with more than one PCIe (16x) slot? i'd LOVE to have, say, three montors hooked to one box, but does a board exist that has 2 or even 3 16x PCIe slots? or am i just dreaming?

Some exist with two--A64 NF4 SLI boards--but I think one of the slots is an x8 slot with an x16 connector (not that this cripples performance; the cards out on PCIe right now are the same ones that haven't yet saturated AGP 8x). You'd probably be dreaming about three, though.

You don't have to buy extra PCIe cards just for multiple monitors--if the auxiliary ones do no gaming, just get an extra cheap PCI card.

"Darn?"

You may not be able to get dual 16x slots, but you can get dual 8x AND these days 4x is probably sufficient for the cards on the market in gaming use.

For gaming use, it seems to me that one could dedicate one card to the central display at max res, and the other to driving the peripheral displays, where your visual accuity is lower.
