B) I don't think even the cop apologists are going to make an appearance in this thread. Usually what they do is take some blatantly illegal/immoral thing cops have done, claim we can't understand their job, and give the ol' "It's not illegal if cops do it" excuse.

In this case it's a little too blatant even for them. Well, maybe not for Savoyboy, he'll probably pop in to claim this is the first illegal thing an on-duty police officer has ever done and we shouldn't be so quick to judge.

Assuming this is true, the court should make an example of these cops. When you're charged with serving and protecting the public and you break that trust, you need to be punished hard.

I don't think that is fair. JLee is very guarded with his comments. Most times he basically tells all of us to reserve our judgment until until all the facts are in and asks us to put ourselves in the cop's position. I don't think I've ever heard him make excuses.

the cabbie, if not able to ID the exact cops, would've been able to witness that he handed her off to 2 police officers. the dispatcher would be able to ID the 2 cops. there's the possibility of DNA evidence (although none was found).

have they not been watching CSI?

astromanluca does it all the time apparently, its cool as long as you are stressed, or maybe if you are feeling a bit depressed, or maybe even if you just woke up on the wrong side of the bed, just go rape a drunk chick and you will feel much better.

Theres a difference between passing out drunk and drunk. Although to the law its all the same.

The cops should have known better. The one will go to jail for an extended period of time. The other one will probably go for a very short period of time.
