2 not so smart guys attack the NSA

Two men in an SUV tried to crash through the NSA gate at Ft Meade, MD. Probably more security there than almost anywhere else.

http://www.cnn.com/2015/03/30/us/fort-meade-nsa-incident/index.html

One is dead and one wounded in an exchange of gunfire.

Not the smartest move, and the oddest part is the report I heard on CNN that the two were dressed in women's clothes. Not at all sure what to make of that information. 😱

What's weird is that with just a few hours of facts, at least one of the reports says the NSA claims it's not terrorist related. Why not?

Read the reports, it doesn't sound terrorist related at all. More than likely someone took a wrong turn, got stopped at the gate, freaked out because they had drugs and a gun in the car, and tried to take off. Unfortunately for them they tried to go through the gate, not a good idea.

It can't be terror related. The NSA has never stopped any terrorists intentionally, it's doubtful they'd stop any by accident.

:sneaky:

Exchange suggests the... suspects... were armed and opened fire.

I'm assuming that's not true.

Dunno. Things reported do not always wind up being true. Imagine that.

"A senior U.S. official told The Associated Press that one of the men in the car was killed when a security guard at the base exchanged gunfire with the men."

"A U.S. official told NBC News that the incident appears to be a “local criminal matter.”"

"Cocaine and a weapon were found near or inside the men's vehicle, said officials who were not authorized to speak about the incident."

Apparently the SUV was stolen. The survivor has been identified as Kevin Fleming of Baltimore.

Boy, did they take a wrong turn. What, this isn't Jack In the Box?

Odd story.

It happens all day long, especially at that exit.

Edit - Not directed at you hal2kilo, but as usual the idiots on twitter and in the media are getting things completely wrong. Anyone that's familiar with the area can tell what happened by just looking at the picture. They ran the gate and then rammed the NSA Police vehicle while trying to exit. The two vehicles (SUV and police SUV) are in the exit lane. People are trying to portray this as an attack on the NSA or someone ramming the gates, which is not what appears to have happened.

Foxnews seems to confirm through omission that they were unarmed. That the vehicle was the justification for shooting them. I hope the survivor is healthy enough to speak at some point. Their motivation is of interest.

oh terrorism will be the scapegoat for this one too.

It's pretty clear that they used their vehicle as a deadly weapon and rammed the NSA police car. I think the most likely explanation is that they made a wrong turn off of 295, didn't want to get busted with drugs and a stolen vehicle, so they took off. From looking at the pictures and reading the reports they ran the gate after being told to stop, made a u-turn, and rammed the cop car while trying to escape.
