Whether the website flub was deliberate or not, Canon gave us full details of two new cameras on their website this morning:

Finally some more Canon compacts with decent wide-angle lenses...they really need to learn from Panasonic there

Sad, sad, sad...

While Canon is better than other manufacturers in regards to stereo audio recording (the S-series), I am disappointed that, in general, good video does not come with good audio... seriously, what's the ^#%@% point in shooting in HD, if the sound will be no better than what comes out of a 1950's TV set???

The TZ7 (along with a few other new Panasonic 2009 digicams) have the best implementation to date: 720P AVCHD Lite (with better compression/bitrates than standard h.264) and Dolby Digital Stereo.

We'll see if that actually translates into a noticeable real world difference from Canon's 720p/stereo implementation, but I do know that the 720p from the LX3 is superb:
