2 network problems

I have two Gigabit network switches.
A Netgear GS608 and a Netgear GS105.

One of the problems I am having is that when I connect the two switches together they arnt connecting at gigabit speed. even though I have used the cable that connects them for gigabit speed when connecting to computers on the GS105.

The other problem I am having is that gigabit NICs are not connecting at gigabit speed on the GS608 and they will on the GS105. My computer connects at gigabit but no other computer will even if they have gigabit...All computers conencted at gigabit on the GS105 but not on the GS608.

any help would be great.

make sure you are using store bought cat5e or higher cable and the switches and network cards are set to auto detect speed and duplex.

no special crossover cables are needed, just use normal store bought patch cables.

Yes, I am using Cat5e cable. We crimp all our own cable as its cheaper that way and we have never had have a cable not work at gigabit speed on the GS105 just the GS605

That is most likely your problem.

Don't crimp your own cables. Especially for 1000 Base-T.

I can almost guarantee you have a cabling problem. If you have a category tester/scanner then run that on the cables, that will show you the problem.
