2 Months to get Good with Exchange

The Boss just dropped this on me over lunch today. We have taken on a large contract to set up Exchange 2000 servers and I need to learn this fast. I have already ordered the eval edition from MS and was wondering if I can really get a feel for setting this up even if I am stuck on dial-up and therefore wont be running this with an actual domain. Once the materials arrive he will be giving me a week away from the field to learn and I would like to get as much as possible in that time. Thanks

Exchange isnt all that bad. Get a book, as was suggested, and set up a mini domain somewhere and practice on it. You wont get really good at it until you are pestered about problems. Problem solving is one of the best teachers. Exchange 2000 made alot of things(switching domains!!!) easier than they were previously.

I post this a 12/31

free online class for exchange...

it's kinda easy but be good with AD.. if u have spare computer to test, ie 1 machine as ad and 1 as exchange

btw upgrading is not as easy as it seems...

Thats an understatement. The upgrade from 5.5 to 2000 is not cakewalk

Thanks forcesho, already signed up but how bandwith intensive is it? I am stuck on dial-up. We won't doing any upgrades yet just new deployments for new clients. Saw the O'reilly books but I can't find one for E2k yet. I have a LAN at the house to test it on so I will be able to bash away on it. Thanks for all the help

well, in the beginning when I only had 56k, t1 was delay for 1.5 month, i had no problems but still large attachment is the killer...

good luck..

2 months is more than enough time to learn the basics. You should be proficent with AD, DNS and IIS beforehand though.

MSPress has the training kits for exam 70-225 and 70-224. 225 is the design and deployment book. It comes with the eval disk to set up a lab environment to practice with. I highly recommend getting those two books and persue getting ready to test out on it. The books have lab exercises and you can get help from www.MCSEBraindumps.com. Another resource is the knowledgebase from Msoft.com.

Your boss has alot of faith in you. I wish I had a boss like that.

I wish I had a boss.
