This is a CNet article: http://news.cnet.com/news/0-1005-200-2181517.html?tag=st.ne.1002.thed.ni

Here's the short version:
EMusic today unveiled a deal with Hewlett-Packard that will give the online music retailer at least $3 million in much-needed revenues in the coming months, as well as a chance to try a new business model.

Some interesting information:
Earlier this month, EMusic said it would lay off 20 percent of its work force as part of cost-saving moves aimed at cutting $15 million in expenses in the coming year.

In the first quarter of this year, the company reported revenues of $2.1 million, up from $423,000 in the prior quarter. However, its net loss--excluding acquisition charges but including the results of the companies it acquired--widened to $14.6 million from $8.4 million in the prior quarter.

I wonder what kind of a dent all those Nomad II's made on THEIR books :) Lol, gotta love reading these stories!

E-music does not have a license to the entire RIAA music library. They only have a few popular artists, and most of them are suck.

OK, wait. Let me get this right. I gotta PAY to download some crappy mp3's? Or I gotta BUY some crap I don't need just to download some crappy mp3's? And this is a hot deal?

Lock this please.

E-Music has one of the poorest selections around. They offer MP3s of no-name bands and frankly, it's not worth it.

E-music did me right with their two promotions - the free headphones (nice qual) and the free Logitech Speaker Set with Subwoofer (quite nice). $50bux worth of stuff for me paying $25 for mp3s.

I d/l some Phish concerts and some other stuff. Not worth actually buying anything there otherwise. The only hot deal here is if they are having another Promotion!
