2 monitors? What is the problem here?

I am trying to get 2 monitors to work before Madden 2003 comes out :). I have a Sony G400 19" primary monitor and I have tried 2 things so far to make a 2nd work. First I just hooked my old 17" Gateway monitor into the back where there is a plug on the G400. Powered it up and nothing doing. I messed w/ some settings but still nothing. So I found a deal that converts a plug on the back (parellel I think) into a monitor plug. Still nothing. Is this a driver issue? My 1st try at multiple monitors and any help would be appriciated.
thanks,
herb

By the way. I am using a GF4 Ti4200 Gainward w/ extra out but it is a squage plug looking thing. Is it possible to just hookup to my G400 on the back plug or what? Love to get this figured out. 2 monitors seems kickin.

Maybe I'm reading this wrong, but I had a G400 and it had multiple inputs on the back, but it was so you could use the same monitor on two computers, not to run dual monitors. For dual monitors you have to have 2 outputs on your video card, and it sounds like you have a DVI output on your 4200. You can get a DVI to VGA adapter and plug both of your monitors into your video card. Careful where you're plugging things...

Question for you... why is setting up a dual monitor solution significant for Madden 2003?? I'm also awaiting that game, but I am confident that that version of Madden (like the past versions of Madden NFL Football) will not make use of multimonitor solutions.

Just a good excuse to finally try it. Reason I used was so my friend can have his own monitor even if they are showing the same thing ;).
