2 mattresses stacked on top of one another, so soft!

I stacked 2 mattresses on top of one another the other day and it is the best, I can't go back to 1 mattress. I'm thinking of trying 3.

you guys should try it. It's the best.
 
Atleast I'm not the only one with 2 mattresses. I thought I was a freak. Now to figure out where I can get a 3rd mattress.
 
I fail to understand why stacking two mattresses ontop of eachother would be any softer than just one, it's not like your body presses against the floor when you're laying on it.. Where does the extra softness come from?

Two mattresses? What are you, the Princess On The Pea? Try getting a sheet of egg crepe (basically a sheet of foam with ripples in it) from the bedding section of Wal-Mart or Target. They'll probably call it a mattress pad or something similar. Softest bed I've ever slept in.... 😀

Try it and you'll see. I don't have a very scientific explination but I'll give you a crude explination of how I think it works.

when 1 mattress is on top of the normal bottom piece that is the size of the mattress but is like an enclosed frame (box spring?) the springs in the mattress give part way and some of the firmness comes from the enclosed frmae thing. When you use 2 mattresses the springs below you give in more because they do not have as much support and the springs in the bottom matttress give in some from the weight. This causes the top mattress to become more soft than usual.

My friend tells me Futons are uncomfortable because there is a beam in the middle of the frame when it is in bed mode.


How do you guys sleep with 2 pillows? 1 pillow under my head lifts it high enough off the mattress.

No offense, but your friend is smoking crack if he thinks futons are uncomfortable. I slept on one for months and I gotta say that was a comfortable bed. If you're sleeping on the bare frame, it could be uncomfortable... 😀

Your friend is on crack... i've had 3 futon beds, and none of them had a beam in the middle when folded out.
 
BTW, get a thick featherbed... it'll be even more comfortable, and better for your back then having 2 mattresses stacked like that.

I hate soft mattresses.. bad for my back.

Futon with 3 pillows for me.. and I don't put all 3 pillows under my head.. o-O
