i usually prefer gerbers, but i needed a multi tool, looks like i got in on it at the last second.
 
okay... so i got in on this deal last night, bought the two leathermen, 2 books and a cd and my total was ~$58. Now I go check my order status, and its still there, but my total is now ~$70!! WTF?

That is SO true!


I live in the lower 48 and not a day goes by where I have no use whatsoever for a pliers, knife, screwdriver or bottle opener. Every time I think I need a tool, I sigh "If only I was in Alaska, then I would actually have a use for one".

I have several of thes laying around, and if i cant find a proper tool to use, then i dredge one of these up, they are really useful for backpacking/conoe trips etc where space is an issue. On a trip into the wilderness these are very useful, almost a must have. Sounded like a pretty good deal

I always take one of these on my annual Sierra Nevada backpack trip, but lost mine on the trail last year. Been looking around for one but missed this deal. 🙁

... and thanks to the OP -- a great bargain for those of us who got in! I already have a leatherman and a gerber, and I find I use the LM much more than the gerber (although they're both great)

Yeah, whenever I need a screwdriver, I go get my Leatherman from my dresser and unfold it and use it to awkwardly screw in a screw, rather than grab an ergonomically designed screwdriver. I also happen to randomly, throughout the day need to screw things in here or there. I prefer carrying my leatherman in my pocket 24/7 just in case I need it to spending 15 seconds getting to a tool chest.

When I take my time machine back to 1958, when everything used bottle caps, I prefer my Leatherman to, say, the side of a wall or a medium sized rock.

I know we got both an electric and manual can opener as wedding gifts, but, frankly, I have no need for the things. I just whip out my Leatherman and, clink, clink, clink, clink, clink, clink, clink, clink, clink, clink, clink, clink, clink, clink, clink, clink, clink I'm enjoying sweet sweet tomatoes.

I don't understand how they can afford to do these? Just a promo. But dang, a Wave and Micra for $25 dollars?? Yeah, multipliers
come in handy. I have two Gerbers, had them for over 8 years now. I like to keep 'em in cars, you never know when you
might need it, for anything.

They can't. We will all get the "oops" email tomorrow. They are not losing $40 on each one.
 
yeah, these new leatherman retail for like $80. Since micra don't have a negative value, there is no way they're making money off selling the pair for $24. Thats a big mistake (and a big loss per sale) for amazon. I've looked into buying mass amounts of leatherman (custom engraving, company promo). Even when purchasing 10,000+ units (to where their price is much closer to cost), its nowhere near 70-80% off, like in this deal.
