Hi, first post on Anand...

I can usually find the answer here already,
but this one is a bit unusual and difficult to pinpoint.

I have two laptops and I'm looking at pushing them both through a widescreen monitor.
i.e.) the ability to switch back and forth:

Laptop 1) max rex - 1600 x 1200

Laptop 2) max rez - 1024 x 768

The monitor: Samsung 226BW (or similar 1680 x 1050)

My initial problem is the obvious resolution conflict between the two laptops and the widescreen.
My secondary problem is that both laptops are VGA and the monitor only has one VGA, one HDMI.

I found a reasonable VGA to HDMI converter here:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/...ga%2bDisplay%2bAdapter

I'm just not sure that will work as it's meant for the opposite of my intentions...
and then of course, what kind of trauma will I have with the rez conflicts and the widescreen?

I read something about an Nvidia "widescreen driver"...
but I've also read the odd negative from "reviewers" on particular websites (a huge grain of salt taken when reading CircuitCity, etc.).

So can anyone suggest how I might get this to work...if at all?
I'd hate to spend a few hundred bucks to find myself in the pisser.

Thanks for reading all this...
