Maybe one of you military/ex-military guys can answer this:

Why doesn't Israel have artillery counterfire against the launch sites right as they happen?

Is there something inherently different about rocket fire vs artillery fire that this isn't possible?
 
These are not established sites that they are firing from, and I doubt that they have access to the 'Stalin Organ'
type vehicles that are need to move and deploy said weapons as in a set piece battle.

More like a couple tubes in a pick-up truck that make a 'pop and run' hit, get out of the area before they strike back.

Does Hezbollah have have roadside bombs to take out invading Israeli tanks? I'm sure they have plenty of RPGs from Iran and Syria.

Direct hit on a tank. Chances are a house would do much worse.
 
Its just your standard artillery rocket, a house would likely suffer signifigant structural damage from one, but of course the whole point of them is that they are cheap and meant to be fired in the thousands. At the battle of Berlin an insane amount of these were used.
 
Man this thing is bad, the Israelis are killing a lot of civilians in Lebanon too. I have a friend who lives there and I keep in touch with him via myspace and he hasn't been on since the 11th

So liberals complain that he interferes in Iraq, but also complain when he doesn't do anything about this? What's the guy supposed to do? Call them up and say "quit or I'll tell your mom"?

To clarify that is most likely a Russian BT tank variant possibly a BT8 and not a German tank (probably mistaken for a t38 variant) as indicated in the link. You can tell by looking at the size of the gun visible in the picture.

However it may very well have been a hit from a Russian artillary strike possibly a Katyusha rocket. Russian commanders were known to call arty strikes on their own units by mistake during WWII.

Here's the deal - 'Aledged' leader of the free world, Prisident of the world's only Superpower . . .
He should take the inititiave to actually lesd something . . like force a face to face emergency meeting like NOW
and put both the Israeli Government and whatever the Flavor of the Month that we dislike in Lesbinon
to stand down and face real issues - surely a 'Leader of the Free World' can take a day or two away from
Campaign Fundraising events, and tributes to his Jebus like freind Kenny Boy, to actually pull his head
out of his ass far enough to take intrest in doing something noteworthy, like preventing a dangerous escallation
warfare in a region that we have already overextended our political goodwill and military assets.

Or would you rather have what's behind curtain 666 ?

bush is a clueless nincompoop waiting for rove to tell him what to say.

Remember when rove went into the hospital at the beginning of Hurrican Katrina? bush had NO IDEA what the hell to do. They had to send WH staff to the hospital to try to get rove to give them a clue. bush's country bumpkin act is a cover for the fact that he actually IS a clueless country bumpkin with little useful knowledge of the world he is supposedly the most powerful leader in.

first of all, the katyusha rockets do destroy houses.

second of all, i have no idea why israel decided to bomb beirut's airport.

as for why you haven't heard from your friend Frackal, it could be because he is leaving, there is no electricity or something else. i hope he is ok. OTOH, the katusha rockets can be fired be a car. it's relatively mobile. the problem is that they don't care about hitting civilians and we do. unfourtunatly, they know this and thus hide in crowded areas. so what are we supposed to do? nothing? let them continue firing at us? as you may recall, they started this recent conflict when they kidnapeed Gilad Shalit in the Gaza strip. and since we've all seen what israel will do for one solder, now they have two more.
