Is this somehow possible? 1 IP Address is dynamic, and the other is static. It's kinda important.

Thanx a lot.

Sorry, you need to assign static addresses if you want more than one on the same interface.

So there is no way, that I see the computer of my bro in the network neighborhood, which is on the same hub but on another subnet, cuz the cable company $!*#ed something up with their DHCP Server?

The problem is we are on the same hub, diffrent subnet. The cable company is not able to give us always IPs which are in the same subnet.

You would be better off using netbui for the local file sharing, faster(well theoretically, maybe not noticable) and more secure.

ndee,

If I understand you correctly, you have two systems networked together, sharing the same cable connection and the cable company is providing two different IP addresses, one for each system.

Further, that the cable company is assgning these addresses from different subnets? That doesn't make any sense.

OK, I installed the NetBeui Protocol. But I can't configure it. _Is_ there actually something to configure? I know that in windows98se you have to tell netbeui that it should be used as file management and stuff.

Thanx

In the Advanced tab "Set this as the default protocol" or something. Tells Windows to use this for file/print sharing first.
