2 Internet Connections 1 Software based router

my wrt54g finally died on me so was looking to replace it.

I temporarily have my old router in its place while I figure out something better.

thinking about building a cheap PC based router, and was wondering if there was anything that let me base what connection my router used based on port somewhat easily (I'm no networking wiz) since I have my inet connection and with my rent I get free inet from my landlord but its wireless and prone to packet drops, its fine for downloading but iffy for gaming on.

I was wondering if I could set up one of the software router packages to say send all PnP, and Newsgroup traffic over that connection but all normal stuff over another? or even better I know my newsgroup provider lets me use several ports so if I designate one port to go to one connection and one port to another that would be even better (doubles my bandwidth for newsgroup dls)

anyone got any input or ideas?
