2 hours of fun in the crawl space

After 2 hours of excitement in the crawlspace and 2 trips to Sears I finished wiring the house for now. Now have ethernet wired to every room in the house with the exception of the bathroom (wireless for that).

Guess it is now time to hook up the HTPC, HT, PS2, and TiVo.

Wow, pr0n available at all rooms of the house! Wireless pr0n for the bathroom!

You installed an ethernet outlet in every room?

Why not just use wireless throughout the entire house? I don't get it.

Faster, not sucky, faster, lower latency, secure, faster, not sucky, and faster.

Not to mention you don't have to have a wireless NIC in every computer 😛

oh, and not sucky

How fast do you need? I can get 300/kbps from a wireless router from a broadband connection that usually downloads a 500/kbps.

Large file network transfers, wireless can be tedious. Even the top advertised speeds aren't achieved over distance or through obstacles. Plus, it's much much much much much much much much MUCH more secure.

As fast as I can get. Additionally I do not feeling like shelling out the cash for 8 wireless cards for all the computers/components.

50 Gbps

Faster, you get much closer to the mythical 100Mb limit. Much less/lower latency. Wireless drops offline a lot, even with good equipment. Wireless is not secure. Making it secure is a pain and still not as good as wired. Wireless is susceptable to interferance.

Ever try to watch a hi def movie or listen to high bitrate music streaming over wireless from 4 rooms away while other people are on the network?
