2 Hard Drives at Once

im wondering if i run 2 hdds at once w/o raid. would it boot up normally? or choose a hd to boot up?

or the process with raid. is it the same think as w/o? can you combine the to hdd into 1?

if someone can explain to me what happens or how it works in either raid or not that will be great

thx

Alot of people run more than one hd w/o raid. Unless you are using SCSI, then the primary master is the one which is going to be booted from. When talking about raid, it depends on what raid mode you use, and whether it's hardware or software. If it is Raid 0 then you will be booting from both drives(considering they are configured to boot from and not just used for data storage), if Raid 1 then you will be mirroring to the other drive, you can also do software raid through Win2k or XP, which as I understand it will fill up one drive and then go to the other drive and continue on like it's one big drive. But you can only combine the two drives to act as one through a Raid configuration.
