2 Hard drives, 2 CD's one Zip and a promise ATA 66 card..best way to configure this mess???

Hi..I have a maxtor 7200 rpm 20.5 gig HD set as my primary drive. I have a Samsung 5400 rpm 8.5 gig hd and then a Samsung 16X DVD and a HP 7200 CDRW, a Zip 100 internal and a promise Ultra 66 IDE card. If you were I..how would you have all these setup???!!!!I want to maximize performance of the 20.5 gig drive and make good use of the Ultra 66 card...any suggestions would be appreciated

Put the two hard drives on the promise 66 card.
on the motherboard put the CDRW and Zip drive on one channel and the DVD on the other.

I don't know about yours, but my CDRW says that it should have DMA off, and any other devices on the channel should to.
DVD Roms (and obviously hard drives) need it on.

I'm not sure if that's true, I have a CDRW Master with it off, and a DVDRom slave with it on...but that's what I'd try for.

Edit: this was assuming you have only ATA33 on your motherboard, that's why I put the lower bandwidth devices on there.

I had pretty much the same config. (Different Makes and models) I had 75gxp on the Promise card as primary master and two WD drives as master and slave on the Promise secondary channel. I had a Toshiba 48X cd rom on the MB primary and a Plextor 8432 on the MB secondary master. Hope this helps. Oh yea the zip was installed as the primary slave on the MB

I have an ATA 66 mb....but that what I was thinking of doing..right now I have 20.5 set as master on the primary controller with the CDRW and the 8.5 set as master on the secondary with DVD and have the zip on the promise card...I know its a waste on there....would tell me exactly how you would set up...master slave the whole thing....
