2 Gigs, Athlon 64

I want 2 gigs of ram for my brand new Athlon 64 machine.

I have a DFI nf4 Ultra board and San Diego 3700+.

What is the best choice for performance?

I have had great success witht he g.skill ZX 2gb kit. The OCZ platinum EL kit totally screwed the pooch for me on this board.

Might be a silly question, but coming from D875 P4 I can never tell...

Should these 2x1GB kits run at 1T? At 200Mhz, and 250?

All of them, or just some?

And... do you happen to know which are double sided/single sided?

I just think I may as well go 1T since I have a choice.

So, I am hoping to find a 2x1GB solution known to run 1T.
I will settle for DDR400, but would prefer something known
to run 1T at higher speeds while maintaining much stability.

I can read vague recommendations all day across the web.

I run these at around 240MHz (give or take, forget since it's been so long but I dug up an old post of mine saying I was stable at 240MHz and was still trying to find my max). This is on a DFI board so I have the ability to tweak settings out the wazuu as well as pump in some voltage.

Edit: ignore my statement about a DFI board, obviously you'll be running one too.

Actually beware of the Ballistix 2GB kit, people are speculating that there is a bad batch going around which are dying rather quickly.

Yah when you use that memory on the DFI board you have to use all special timings...lower than those stated by OCZ - even at stock speeds. Also one stick I got was bad and corrupted Windows causing all sorts of havoc and troubleshooting woes.

That G.Skill HZ kit reccomended above is an awesome kit. Im currently running 265Mhz 1:1 3-4-4-8 1T. I can take it up to 275Mhz but my system isnt stable that high. I hear good things about the Mushkin 2gb Kit as well. :thumbsdown: for the Crucial Ballistix.

I started this thread at the same time another person started a similar thread.
I noticed this, and participation in the other thread was initially higher.

In there I come to some conclusions and ended up buying the G.Skills.

After reading techpowerup.com reviews and much more I think 2x1GB
preference as it stands in the near future will go down something like this...

1. Infineon CE-6 modules, OCZ EB 4000 && Mushkin Redline XP4000 2GB
2. UCCC modules, Linked OCZ 4000 && G.Skills 4000
3. Crucial/Micron modules, as in Ballistix

You can order the Mushkin Redline from their site.
PCB is BrainPower, same as OCZ, supposedly the best.

For over $100 cheaper you can go with UCCC modules.

The G.Skills PCB is also BrainPower. With all this in mind, I think it is
easy to see why the G.Skills 4000 for $217 is so well rated on Newegg.
It went up in price since I started asking about it in here...

Crucial/Micron seem to suffer from quality issues as noted
in newegg reviews, and some think they are overworked.

I will go with cheap UCCC and leave the Infineon waiting to others.

Will Samsung make TCCD chips for 1GB dimms?
