its glued on...and very well mind you. I can't figure out why they'd glue it on....perhaps so we can't check what chips they use. I'm a little disappointed there....
 
I have these same sticks and I can confirm that they do not overclock very well. Early sticks were reported to be D9's but it's obvious that these aren't anymore. Especially now that the price is hitting the bottom so quick. There's no way these are Micron D9's now.

They're not dogs though. Above average for DDR2 800. Sisoft Sandra shows around 6800mb/s @ 4-4-4-12. I can go up to around 920mhz with 5-5-5-15 @2.3v but it isn't worth the heat and the marginal, if any, increase in performance. Another thing is these sticks absolutely refuse to do 1t timings. Period.

So there you have it. The Buffalo Firestix are still D9's I believe. They were 3rd place in Tom's little shootout.
