They announced the 2 finalists out of the 9 total designs. The final one will be chosen later in the month.

THINK
Studio Libeskind

Which one do you like better?

I was in a group in my Comp Studies class that had to pick one of the earlier 9 designs and say why we picked it and blah blah.

We chose the Ghost Tower design and now its winning :D

They should have chosen the Foster and Partners twin tower design. It was by far my favorite.

Anyway, I think that the Think team design is a waste of space. The towers are little more than scaffolding, with no room for office space. If I had to choose between these two, I'd go with the Libeskind design.

Anyway, here's a link the the 7 WTC design plans, for those who haven't seen it before:

I am not a huge fan of either but of the two. I think they should build something like the Two Towers once again as a monument of sorts to those that were lost.

I live in NYC at the moment, and have lived in Jersey all my life and have to say that seeing either of these two designs built is gonna suck imo. They just don't flow with the rest of the city, especially when viewing the skyline from any of the hills in Northern NJ. But of the two, I'll go with THINK.:)

I agree. I think they look too ostentatious and probably are too expensive as well. I'd go with THINK tho too.

But then it would look like nothing ever happened. If someone was in a coma for 5 years, woke up, and saw the WTC again the way it was before he'd never know that the events of 9/11 took place. stupid example i know, but the new buildings should be at least somewhat different.

Neither. They should rebuild the old towers, only this time make them a few floors taller.

A memorial is nice, but how much better would it be if we rebuilt the towers into a stronger world business center?

They can't build it back again just like it was, it's a grave site.

I don't like any of the designs. I think whatever they build should have a major element of safety and concern for people trying to get out of whatever it is, when something happens. None of the designs have had any consideration for actual people trying to live their lives in the buildings.

I think they should just keep those two huge spotlights like it used to be, they make a good tribute

The Liebeskind looks much better imho especially on the ground - the other one is boring

And to those who want the same two towers rebuilt - how unimaginative. Besides, they weren't particularly cool looking skyscrapers in the first place...

I like the first half or so of the THINK slide show. It shows the three tall office buildings restoring the skyline along with a park some some stands/seating. Then they go into that pile of twisted metal at the end of the slide show? What's with that? Just build three tall buildings and throw a transmission tower on top of one of them and be done with it.

And that Libeskind design? PUH-LEEZE...that's straight out of a 60s/70s Science Fiction design.
