Don't know if it's the fastest in NA. I very much doubt that actually. Why would you think that? But in this areas it's just about the fastest and the service has been great for many years!

used to be 50 - 60 GB. I just got the "extreme" plan so I went on a download binge this month, and managed to hit 150 GB :thumbsup:

it's way more content than I have time to watch and my file server is filling up, so I'm not sure how to use all this bandwidth!

I think the Novus fibre that I'm on might be faster, but not really sure. It is a smaller company servicing a smaller user base and our building was specifically wired to work with them, so that all probably helps. :hmm:

Like I was saying. TV shows. Over the months I've downloaded about 35-40 TV series each with every episode of every season. Some of the in HD quality, others regular SD. I also seed all these torrents to greater than 1:1 ratio since this is from a credit based tracker. So you basically have to double the amount of data since shaw looks at it as a total bandwidth cap, not just downloads.

Then you have the same speed I have 😛 However since it's fibre to the building and being distributed by a small company it's probably being shared by fewer people so you might actually still get faster speeds than here. What do you average on Speedtest.net?
 
Somewhat annoying, but are you and your internet-sharing cronies really going to stop your downloading on a dime? Call it quits around 350GB and you should be good, unless your bandwidth is somehow wildly more sporadic than that.

I'm the only large user here. When I said I share the connection I just mean with others in the house who just do regular web browsing.
 
One or two people aren't going to use 400 GB a month, even if they are crazy heavy users of HD video. If you have more people, then you're splitting the bill into tiny amounts and you can afford to pay for more data.

This is hardly like the cell companies limiting to 2 GB and then only updating every 2-3 days, where anyone who uses their phone as intended will need double or triple that limit.

I use my phone as intended and use about 1.67GB a month (that is my 6 month average) now i have verizon unlimited data so it doesnt matter, but the 2GB for phones isnt a big deal IMHO. I find many places I am during the day have wifi and i can easily just use that instead of my 3G connection.

I have never used less than 3 GB in over two years on my gen-1 Droid. Pandora, Netflix, web, nav, endless updates... it all adds up fast.
 
First, get on usenet and you won't have to upload 1:1 for everything you download.

Second, I hope you are not one of these people that just looks for the biggest 1080P version of everything. I see people uploading 1080P rips of movies that are 15-20GB and it's ridiculous. High bitrate 1080P is just not practical for sharing over the internet nowadays when everyone has bandwidth caps.

I am going to guess if he doesn't want to pay for the tv's shows he is downloading he won't pay for usenet. 😛

I don't even think I have anything that's 1080p. No I don't download like that. Most of the reason I don't use Usenet is cause it's really only good for finding recently broadcast TV, Movies, pirated software and the like. And I'm not interested in much of that. I prefer using a dedicated specialized tracker because it's much easier to find complete series of hard to find stuff like The Man From U.N.C.L.E., Get Smart, The incredible Hulk (70s), and much much more (those are just random examples).
 
i'm not really sure there's a cause for complaint here. if they dont have an automated system, it's a ticket for somebody to go off and collect the stats. 400gb is a high cap to start with, even with lots of downloading/video watching that is not blueray quality..

to reconcile your tomato numbers, take a snapshot, ask the company for stats and a time of stats, then figure the differential.
 
What I hate is companies that automatically bump you and then throttle that connection...verizon does this with my hotspot. I rarely go over 2GB, but when I do not only do I pay a premium, but the speed is about 50% normal.
