Okay what are must-do's in Minneapolis? I know MOA, but anything else that you Northerner's highly recommend? Anything that a local would suggest but one might not find in a guidebook or whatever?

A friend and I are flying in Saturday afternoon and staying till Monday Night, so we got pretty much 2 full days. I know, I know. Why are we going to Minnesota in the dead of winter. Well we wanted to escape Chicago (lol, I know it sounds retarded) and this package was the only one that really fit our schedule and timetable so we figured why not.

So...what do we need to see or do up dere?

We've had basically no snow this year..hell, the past 5 years, in MN. It's been rediculous.

I don't think Minneapolis was the best choice to get away from Chicago..they're both just..cities. MN is more about the scenery. Go snowboarding/skiing!

Edit to clarify: Go snowboarding/skiing on a hill where they make snow ;)
I think I heard we've had 12" this year- almost all has melted. We're supposed to be over 100".

I know, I know. We've just been itching to get out of the area though. Sometimes you need a change of scenery. Even if the scenery looks the same. You know it's different, you know?

What to do? Well, it's winter in Minneapolis, that cuts your options a bit.

Here's our local events paper: http://www.citypages.com/

Depends on what you like. There's plenty of clubs like First Avenue (made famous in Purple Rain) or the Gay 90s if you're looking for counter culture. I could recommend the good strip clubs: Seville, Rick's, Schieks, in that order. Or if you want to slum it B.J.'s or the 22nd Ave Station. For finer culture there's the Walker Arts Center, Orchestra Hall, Minneapolis Institute of Arts, The Guthrie. There's a science museum in St. Paul.

There's lots to do here, just not in the dead of winter. I personally hole up in my house during the winter and just wait for spring.

Edit: Oh yeah, if skiing/snowboarding is your thing, Buck Hill isn't too far outside the cities.
